Elaboration of a 2008-2011 National Plan of Moldova’s Development is one of the main goals of the Economics and Trade Ministry (MEC) in 2007, Minister Igor Dodon told a today’s news conference. <\/p>\n

"We hope that in 2007, the negotiations with the European Union will be closer as regards the autonomous trade preferences (ATP) and the Schengen visas. We express conviction that progress will be registered on the two matters," the economics and trade minister said. <\/p>\n

The MEC elaborated and presented a list of goods which is to be negotiated with the European Commission to get the ATP for certain products. "Moldova getting the ATP by mid 2007 will significantly encourage the bilateral trade exchanges and will woo investments from the EU. At the same time, it will lead to the re-orientation of the Moldovan exports to the EU market, and respectively, to the diversification of sales markets, and it will also allow maintaining the preferential economic relations we have with Romania and Bulgaria, countries which are to become EU members on 1 January 2007", Dodon said. <\/p>\n

Reforms meant to liberalize the economy, in line with an initiative by the Moldovan president, are to be launched in 2007. <\/p>\n

At the same time, the economics and trade minister voiced hope that 2007 will be the year when Moldova will resume exports of agrifood and wine products to the traditional Russian market. <\/p>\n

As regards the real sector of the national economy, in 2007, the MEC is set to develop a salary-payment regulation process through social dialogue and to ensure the negotiations on the fixed salary for the amount to the minimum living level. Unfortunately, the budgetary sector sees no sufficient means for implementing the next stages of the new salary-payment system, the minister said. <\/p>\n

Dodon also affirmed that the average monthly salary per country is forecast to increase by nearly 22 per cent, reaching 2,015 lei in 2007. <\/p>\n

In January-October 2006, the employees from the budgetary sector stood earned a salary of 1,421 lei, against 980 lei in the same period of 2005, and the growth pace was of 45 per cent. <\/p>\n
