Moldova is ready to sing a protocol on Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) any time before the year-end along with a protocol on intergovernmental agreement on the principles of levying indirect taxes related to trade between the two countries. The protocol provides for VAT on Russian gas supplies to the republic based on the destination principle. VAT on exported gas is currently being paid to the Russian instead of the Moldovan budget. Moldovan Economy Minister Igor Dodon made this announcement at a press conference in Chisinau. According to him, Moldova’s position was written out in a letter sent to Russian Economy Minister German Gref and the head of the Russian-Moldovan intergovernmental commission on trade and economic partnership, Russian Education Minister Andrei Fursenko. Dodon pointed out that Moldova had performed all theprocedures necessary for signing the documents. He also said that Russia had not informed Moldova on doing the same. <\/p>\n
