By the estimates of the government the GDP growth will constitute 5%. In 2000 the gross national product has grown only by 1.9%. The economic growth in 2001 has been achieved owing to the increase in the volume of the industrial output, the successful results in agriculture, the processing industry , transport and services.<\/p>\n

The inflation level in November 2001 constituted 4.3% or was reduced by 13.2%, compared with December 2000. <\/p>\n

The inflation constituted only 1.1% for the 2001 May-December period. The exchange of the National currency was virtually stable and wavered between 12.93 lei per $1 in May 2001 to 13.09 lei per $1 in December. <\/p>\n

The export increase, the deflation during the June-August period and the growth of the industrial output have their positive impact on the stabilization of the exchange rate of the national currency. The GDP growth, the inflation decrease and maintaining the stable exchange rate are the basic indices, confirming the stabilization of the macro-economy. <\/p>\n

The trend for industrial growth, achieved this year has preserved, INTERLIC News agency reports. The volume of the industrial output has increased by 14% in 2001 in comparable prices, compared with 2000. <\/p>\n

The industrial production indices in November 2001 increased by 26.2%, compared with November 2000. The output of agricultural machinery increased by 64%, carpets – by 50%, pumps – by 32%, products from iron concrete, gyps and cement – by 25%, diary products – by 37%, wines – by 29%, sugar – by 13%. <\/p>\n

The industrial enterprises of Moldova has maintained trade relations with partners from 40 countries. The volume of foreign trade increased in 2001 by 35%. <\/p>\n

About 140 joint ventures function in Moldova at present. Their production volume has constituted 1 billion lei.
