19.5 million Euros will be granted to Moldova in the form of technical assistance in the frames of the TACIS program by the European Union. Director of the General Directorate 1A\/C of the European Commission, Timo Summa and Vice-minister of Economy and Reforms, Dumitru Bragis communicated it at a meeting with the reporters. <\/p>\n

This amount is equivalent to $21million. 12.7 million Euros from the resources granted to our republic by the YACIS program budget for 1999 will be designed for the implementation of the projects in the three priority directions as agriculture, private sector and human resources. It is envisaged to use about 4.8 Euros for political consultations, support for enterprises and financing of the activities of non-governmental organizations. 2 millions will be allocated for the reconstruction of the bridge in the vicinity of Gura Bicului village. <\/p>\n

As Vice Minister of Economy and Reforms Dumitru Bragis noted in the conversation with the INTERLIC reporter, the similar purely investment project related to the restoration of the above bridge is the first one for the entire period of the TACIS activity in Moldova. However, such projects will become more real for our republic beginning from 2000, when the European Parliament will approve the program for cooperation with the Republic of Moldova for 2000-2006. <\/p>\n

The European Commission will allocate 20 million from its budget for the CIS countries, including Moldova, which economy has been seriously affected by the Russian economic crisis. Thus, our republic will receive about 2 million Euros for providing the old people and children with medicines and food products. <\/p>\n

Besides, as Director of the General Directorate 1A\/C of the European Commission, Timo Summa underlined, the European Commission is devising a proposal for granting the third credit at 15 million Euros to our republic in addition to two previous credits at 60 million ECU, which were allocated to Moldova in 1994-1996. <\/p>\n

This issue was discussed during the recent visit of the RM incumbent Premier to Brussels, but this procedure was dragged on in virtue of the RM government resignation.
