The industrial production of Moldova dropped by 6.7 percent in January-July, down to 11,250,000,000 lei, compared with the same period of last year, due to the wine crisis and declines in complex branches. <\/p>\n

According to data of the National Bureau for Statistics (BNS), the wine making industry dropped by 46 percent in January-July, distilled alcohol drinks by 24 percent, glass industry by 8 percent, paper and cardboard by 12 percent. The restriction of Moldovan wines by Russia made many wine plants limit or even stop their production, and this fact had repercussions on glass, packaging, label, etc. making industries. <\/p>\n

The government does not expect a return to the level of 2003, anticipating a 7-percent maximal rise for 2007, 7.5 percent for 2008 and 8 percent for 2009.
