Moldova has increased almost three-fold the exports of alcoholic beverages to the European markets in the first quarter of 2006. On this period, the exports stood at 14.9 million dollars, against 5.1 million in the first quarter of 2005. <\/p>\n

A public relations officer at the Moldova-Vin Agricultural and Industrial Agency, Iurie Mudrea, has specified that in the first half of 2006, goods worth 8.8 million dollars were exported to Romania, against 350,000 dollars in the same period of 2005. Spirits exported to Poland stood at 1.7 million dollars, against 1.1 million in the first quarter of 2005. <\/p>\n

\"\"Production worth 783,000 dollars was delivered to Germany, which is 150,000 dollars up against the first quarter of 2005, while exports to Estonia doubled amounting to 600,000 dollars. <\/p>\n

Moldova has also increased production delivery to Great Britain and Israel, where it exported spirits of 373,000 and 273,000 dollars, respectively. <\/p>\n

Experts consider that the increase in the exports of Moldovan spirits is due mainly to the promotion actions the Moldovan authorities have been carrying out abroad. <\/p>\n

Moldova increased wine exports to the European markets after the Russian Federation prohibited the Moldovan spirits’ imports last March.
