The government calls for the authorisation of meat imports via the Commodity Exchange only, in order to prevent the underestimation at customs stations. <\/p>\n

In this regard, the cabinet of ministers obliged Wednesday the Ministry of Agriculture and Processing Industry to urgently work out a normative framework and the necessary mechanisms jointly with the Ministry of Economy and Trade. <\/p>\n

Relevant structures will identify tariff and non-tariff solutions for regulation of meat imports and derivates, as well as systems of certification, control and supervision of meat on domestic market. <\/p>\n

According to data of the Customs Service, Moldova imported 50,000 tons of meat in 2005 for a medium price of 6,850 lei a ton (515 dollars). <\/p>\n

At the same time, the government described the execution of the poultry development programme for 2002-2010 as satisfactory, after Minister of Agriculture Anatol Gorodenco reported that the three hen reproduction centres created by state in 2002-2004 in Anenii Noi, Branzenii Noi and Abaclia sold 5.5 million chickens for fowl last year. <\/p>\n

Gorodenco noted that the newly-created enterprises have benefited of financing in the amount of 3.8 million lei from the state budget for importation of parental effectives, and an efficient broiler fowl producing system was created. Thus, these enterprises produced 14,700 tons of fowl, 305 million eggs for consumption and another 7.9 million of hatch eggs in 2005. Overall, Moldova produced 35,000 tons of fowl. <\/p>\n
