A booklet titled "EGPRSP – A first assessment. The first annual report on assessment of EGPRSP. A first Outlook" was published in Chisinau. It was published in a 7,000-copy circulation, of which 5,000 in Romanian and 2,000 in Russian. <\/p>\n

The booklet includes an assessment of accomplishments in the first year of implementation of the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (EGPRSP), of problems and restrictions in key fields and of internal resources for their reasonable use. <\/p>\n

The publication will be disseminated for free via central and local public authorities and NGOs, as well as during public debates on EGPRSP (www.scers.md). <\/p>\n

Igor Grosu, secretary of the participation council, has told BASA that the booklet was published with the financial assistance of the Joint Programme of UNDP\/UNICEF\/SDC Support for Elaboration and Assessment of Strategic Policies in Moldova. <\/p>\n

The government approved the EGPRSP on May 19, 2004, while the parliament accepted the document on December 2. It is a document of economic policies and actions which will be implemented in 2004-2006 to achieve a sustained economic growth and a two-fold minimum poverty reduction. <\/p>\n

The total cost of activities stipulated by EGPRSP is evaluated at 9.2 billion lei (730 million dollars), of which 35 percent will be covered from funds of the medium-term expense framework approved by government. Foreign creditors said that the size of the assistance for Moldova will depend on progresses in implementing the EGPRSP. <\/p>\n

The first annual report on implementation of EGPRSP was launched at a national forum on March 23.
