Land and real estate tax revenues will be at the disposal of the first level local authorities from 2007, Parliament Chairman Marian Lupu said on Monday at a meeting with the leadership of the Orhei raion. <\/p>\n

According to the parliamentary press service, Lupu said that a number of bills regulating the activity of the public administration will be considered in the first reading by the end of July. <\/p>\n

According to the Speaker, a special parliamentary commission worked out a set of amendments to the legislation. It includes a bill on decentralization, a new version of the Public Administration Law and amendments to the Law on Public Finance. <\/p>\n

Marian Lupu underlined that these documents would allow fixing clear and understandable rules on relations between central and local authorities and they would strengthen the financial independence of the latter ones. <\/p>\n

"Local authorities must not beg, that is why it is necessary to find an optimal cooperation variant between the center and the local authorities", he said. <\/p>\n

The Speaker remarked that 80% out of thousands of proposals sent from various localities were taken into consideration during the elaboration of bills. <\/p>\n

In 2005, the land and real estate tax revenues constituted MDL 232.5 million or by 3.2% more than in 2004. The land tax accounted for MDL 196 million (+ MDL 5.1 million), the real estate tax – MDL 36.5 million (+ MDL 2.1 million).
