The German company Metro Cash & Carry will continue extending its business in Moldova in 2006 and it will invest at least 20 million euros this year to open two more trade centres in Chisinau. Francois Oliver, director Metro Cash & Carry Romania, who also administrates the business of the international retailer in Moldova, has made this announcement to the Romanian news agency Mediafax. <\/p>\n

"The average investment in a trade centre Metro accounts for up to 10-15 million euros, amounts which will be allocated for the building of another two markets in Chisinau," Oliver said. He noted that the second market will open by the end of this year, while the terms when the third trade centre will be inaugurated have not been established yet. <\/p>\n

The second market will be built at the exit of the capital on the way to the Chisinau International Airport. <\/p>\n

Although Oliver said that all markets Metro will be built in Chisinau, Metro Moldova representatives affirm that one of them may open in the Balti municipality, the No.2 big city of Moldova. <\/p>\n

Metro opened its first trade centre in Moldova in December 2004. Its sales in East Europe turned over 10.6 billion euros last year, by 21.9 percent more than in 2004. \/\/ BASA-Press<\/p>\n
