The Netherlands will provide Moldova with 2.5-million-dollar financial assistance to carry out governmental programmes, Dutch Development Cooperation Minister Agnes van Ardenne-van der Hoeven today told journalists in Chisinau. <\/p>\n

The money will be allotted additionally to the 2.4 million euros, the Netherlands has previously offered to Moldova. At the same time, the Netherlands included Moldova into the MATRA programme, which aims at supporting social programmes, the Dutch minister also said. <\/p>\n

Dutch Deputy Premier, Finance Minister Gerrit Zalm said that, lately, Moldova’s economy made progress; a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was signed, which opens new possibilities for foreign financial assistance. <\/p>\n

The Dutch officials stressed that, during the visit to Chisinau, the two countries’ customs services signed a memorandum of understanding on customs cooperation. <\/p>\n

At the same time, the Netherlands signed the Partnership Development Framework, Coordinating and Adjusting Government’s and Donors’ Activities to Optimise Assistance in Moldova. <\/p>\n

First Deputy Premier Zinaida Grecianii specified that the Moldovan government has previously signed the Partnership Development Framework with the IMF, the World Bank, and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
