At 27 March 2006, was signed the foundation documents to initiate the office of the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AMCHAM Moldova), joining a network of more than 104 local AMCHAM offices in 91 countries…Moldova becoming the 105th. Like other AMCHAM offices around the world, the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova is a non-governmental association of private businesses and business people. The stated goal of AMCHAM Moldova is to promote American trade and investment in Moldova and to work with Moldovan government and business leaders to foster a more favorable foreign trade and investment environment. Present at the singing of the charter documents were American Ambassador to Moldova, Heather M. Hodges, and President of the Moldova Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gheorghe Cucu, a sign of the dedication to future cooperation between AMCHAM Moldova and the government. <\/p>\n

John Maxemchuk, General Director of Sun Communications, has been elected as the provisional president of the Board of Directors. Consistent with the tradition of AMCHAMs around the world, the American Ambassador will be asked to hold the honorary office of president of the association. <\/p>\n
