Last year Moldova consumed a record level of electrical energy: by 10.35% more compared with 2004. During 2001-2004, the annual value of this index oscillated between 2.4% and 5.8%, an interim report of the national energy regulator reads. <\/p>\n

According to the data provided by distribution enterprises, in 2005 the power deliveries to consumers totaled 2.689,1 billion kWh or by 252.3 million kWh more than in 2004. The power distribution networks RE Chisinau, RED Centru and RED Sud increased supplies by 7.8%, RED Nord – Vest – by 11.3%, while RED Nord – by 6.3%. <\/p>\n

The national energy regulator says the increase in power consumption is due to the rising demand on the one hand and to the reduced level of technologic consumption and commercial losses of power in the distribution networks on the other hand. This index decreased by about 3 percentage points: from 25.2 % in 2004 to 22.2 % in 2005. <\/p>\n

In particular, the lowest rate of technologic consumption and commercial losses was reported by RED Nord – 14.42%, while RED Nord –Vest registered the most essential reduction in commercial losses – by 5.4 percentage points, from 25.4% to 19.95%, but this figure exceeds by 4% the admitted norms. <\/p>\n
