A Moldovan delegation headed by Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Anatol Gorodenco negotiates the size of a new financing, which will be granted to Chisinau for the implementation of the second stage of the Rural Investments and Services Project (RISP-II), at the Washington-based World Bank headquarter on February 21-23. The Moldovan delegation will negotiate with Benoit Blarel, director for agriculture, and Sergiy Culyk, coordinator of agricultural programmes of the World Bank. <\/p>\n

The second stage of the project will have three components like RISP-I: agricultural consulting and rural extension, development of small- and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas, rural crediting and management. The unit for implementation of RISP-II hopes that the project will become operational in April. <\/p>\n

A World Bank mission jointly with the Moldovan implementation unit completed the preparation for RISP-II within a visit to Chisinau last January. They established premises related to the financing mechanism, inflow of funds, effects and responsibilities of the project. <\/p>\n

The preparation for implementation of RISP-II that started in March 2005 was estimated at 660,000 dollars, which the Japanese government has allocated via the Japanese Fund for Development of Policies and Human Resources.
