\"\"Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Vladimir Antosii today told the MPs that the Government cannot guarantee the maintenance of tariffs for the natural gas supplied to the population after the import price was increased. Antosii said that by next Tuesday, the national energy regulator will set the new tariffs for gas. Afterwards there will be established the system of compensations for certain sections of the population. <\/p>\n

Antosii assured that the tariff for the electric power supplied to domestic consumers will not be increased this year. He said that though Moldova produces only 29% of the electrical energy it consumes, it would be preferable to purchase power from Ukraine’s Novodnestrovsk Power Plant rather than from the Cuciurgan Power Plant that is under Transdniestrian authorities’ administration. <\/p>\n

The autochthonous enterprise “Energocom” proposed the Cuciurgan Power Plant to export power to Romania through its high-voltage power line Vulcanesti – Isaccea, deal that would bring the Moldovan side an income of about $7 million. Antosii underlined that in such a way Chisinau proves that it does not want the Cuciurgan Power Plant to go bankrupt.
