Moldova and Romania have concluded a cooperation agreement on International Commercial Arbitration. The head of the Moldovan Chamber of Trade and Industry (CCI), Gheorghe Cucu, and his Romanian Counterpart, Victor Babiuc, signed the document today in Chisinau. <\/p>\n

Cucu said during the signing ceremony that although no litigations have been registered between the Moldovan enterprises and their Romanian partners so far, the signed agreement will be of great importance for the further development of the bilateral economic exchanges. <\/p>\n

Cucu emphasized that, in 2005, the foreign trade between Moldova and Romania increased by 42 per cent against 2004, amounting to 334 million lei (about 26 million dollars). Moldova’s foreign trade with Romania stands for 10.27 per cent of the country’s exports, and 11.43 per cent of the imports, registering a negative balance of 132 million dollars, Cucu specified. <\/p>\n

Victor Babiuc said the Romanian CCI is set to implement more collaboration projects with the Moldovan Chamber of Trade and Industry, in order to foster the partnership relations between Romanian and Moldovan business people. <\/p>\n

Babiuc also said the delegation he leads is made up of more than 20 enterprises’ members, as well as CCI heads from the counties of Galati, Braila, Suceava, Vaslui etc., who are to visit the exhibition, Made in Moldova on 31 January – 5 February. Babiuc voiced hope that this visit will help the two countries’ entrepreneurs establish new cooperation ties, as well as to deepen the Moldovan-Romanian economic relations, in general. <\/p>\n

Participating in the signing ceremony, Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Filip Teodorescu positively appreciated the increasing dynamics of Moldovan-Romanian trade exchanges registered over the last years, and emphasized the two chambers’ contribution to this end.
