The International Monetary Fund and the Moldovan Government will hold talks over a new three-year loan program for Moldova from 1 to 10 February. <\/p>\n

According to a statement released by the Permanent Representation of the IMF in Moldova, the talks will be conducted by an IMF mission headed by Thomas Richardson. The aim of the mission is to continue the negotiations with the Moldovan authorities on a new loan program as part of the Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility (PRGF). Moreover, the mission will end the consultations under the provisions of article 4 of the IMF Statute. <\/p>\n

Earlier Thomas Richardson expressed his optimism about the prospects of signing a new loan program with the Moldovan Government. The negotiations over a new program were initiated during the previous visit of the IMF mission to Chisinau in December 2005 but they were not finished because the IMF experts spent most of the time carrying on consultations with the Government in compliance with article 4 of the IMF Statute. <\/p>\n

The IMF grants to Moldova preferential credits payable in 10 years at an interest rate of 0.5% including a grace period of 5.5 years.
