The Russian Federation will supply natural gas to Moldova in exchange for 110 dollars per 1,000 cubic metres in the first trimester of 2006, compared with 80 dollars until January 1, 2006. The Moldovan delegation that negotiated with the Russian side has reached an agreement in this regard in Moscow. <\/p>\n

"Gazprom and Moldova have signed a contract on transit and supply of natural gas to Moldova," the official representative of Gazprom, Sergey Kuprianov, announced. <\/p>\n

He noted that the sides "have reached an agreement on functioning of the Moldovan-Russian enterprise Moldova-Gaz, including on rise of the Russian share in the gas transportation system of Moldova." <\/p>\n

Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin saluted the agreement between Moldovan government and Russian concern Gazprom regarding the supply of natural gas for 110 dollars per 1,000 cubic metres. <\/p>\n

The sides "have reached some agreements on activity of the Moldovan-Russian enterprise Moldova-Gaz, eventual rise of the share of the Russian side in the gas transportation system of Moldova and maintenance of its structural unity. The further price policy will be the object of some more detailed negotiations that will continue very soon," the presidential press service said. <\/p>\n

The chief of state noted that this event is "a triumph of pragmatism, true market mechanisms and transparency." In particular, Voronin outlined the importance of maintaining some direct contractual relations with Gazprom.
