Moldavia, cut off of the Russian gas supply since the beginning of 2006, continues negotiations with Gazprom, as stated Moldavian minister of infrastructure and industry Vladimir Antosiy on January 4 at a news conference. He said that the negotiations will soon end. <\/p>\n

The gas price is still a matter of discussion. Gazprom insists of $160 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas, and Kishinev hopes to maintain the price of $80, informs a REGNUM correspondent. <\/p>\n

Moldavian residents did not note the cessation of Russian gas supply, because during last 5 days gas supply lowered only by 15%. <\/p>\n

According to Antosiy, Kishinev controls the situation, and Moldavia is provided with Ukrainian gas, thanks to an agreement between president Voronin and Yushchenko. <\/p>\n

On January 3, the Moldavian delegation returned from Kiev with assurance that Ukraine will continue gas supplying until the Moldavian government comes to an agreement. Further, gas supply to Moldavia will be conducted by joint enterprise of Naftogaz Ukraine and Rosukrenergo. Gazprom will conduct partial control on the joint enterprise. <\/p>\n
