Moldova ranks the 5th place among ten states in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) which have provided data on growth of Gross Domestic Product in nine months of this year, according to data of the C IS Committee for Statistics. <\/p>\n

Moldova registered an 8.4-percent rise of GDP in January-September 2005. Only Azerbaijan, which posted a 21.8 percent growth of GDP, Armenia 11.6 percent, Kazakhstan 8.9 percent and Belarus 8.7 percent, reported the highest advances. <\/p>\n

On the other hand, Moldova was followed by Georgia, which posted a 7.7 rise of GDP, the Russian Federation 5.7 percent, Tajikistan 5.1 percent, and Ukraine 2.8 percent. Kyrgyzstan reported a 0.4 decline of GDP. The CIS Committee for Statistics does not h old data on economic evolution in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which does not provide statistics to the committee. <\/p>\n

A 6-percent rise of GDP was registered on the CIS on average in January-September. <\/p>\n

Moldova’s GDP amounts to 24,703,000,000 (1.95 billion dollars) after nine months, by 8.4 percent more than in January-September 2004. Moldova posted a 5.7 percent rise in January-September 2004. <\/p>\n

Economic analysts say that the 7-percent rise that the government expects this year will be exceeded, if the trend of the first nine months continues. <\/p>\n

The government anticipates a 6.5-percent rise of GDP for next year, up to 44.2 million lei.
