The net sales of residents of free economic zones in Moldova rose by 32.7 percent in January-September 2005, up to 684.4 million lei (54 million dollars), compared with the similar period of 2004, according to the Economics and Trade Ministry. The export turned over 434.1 million lei or 64 percent of the total of sales, and goods worth 179.9 million lei or 26 percent were sold on domestic market and goods worth 70.4 million lei or 10 percent were sold in free economic zones. <\/p>\n

Residents of free zones produced 1,725,800 deciliters of grape wines or 95.4 percent compared with the similar period of 2004; 339,067 deciliters of cognac or 193.5 percent compared with the similar period of 2004; 337.5 million units of raft articles for bottling of alcohol drinks 123.6 percent; 2,015 TV sets, up 3.7-fold compared with the similar period of 2004; 1,113 tons of polymeric film – 165 percent; 2.8 million square metres of carpet – 3.6-fold more than in 9 months of 2004; furniture worth 5 .6 million lei. <\/p>\n

The balance of stored production on October 1 accounted for 56.9 million lei or by 16.2 percent more than in the similar period of 2004. <\/p>\n

Statistics also show that investments in free economic zones rose by about 6 million dollars in nine months, up to 66 million dollars in early October. Expo-Business-Chisinau still holds the highest share – 42.99 percent. <\/p>\n
