The prime minister told journalists after a cabinet sitting that Moldova an d Romania have agreed on importation of electricity, while negotiations with Ukraine on this issue are being completed. <\/p>\n<p>Tarlev said that Moldovan energy experts are on a visit to Moscow and discuss lower natural gas price with officials of the Russian concern Gazprom. Moldovans hold these negotiations on basis of an agreement established with the Russian side two years ago, when Gazprom promised to reduce the gas price if Moldova pays for entire current consumption of natural gas. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;Moldova has honoured its commitments and it pays for the entire gas consumption in the past two years, so that our optimism that the Russian concern would reduce the supply price is justified. We cannot say the final price yet,&quot; said Tarlev, underlining that starting 1996, Moldova buys Russian natural gas in exchange for the highest price among the CIS states, 80 dollars per 1,000 cubic metres. <\/p>\n<p>Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Vladimir Antosii told journalists that Moldova and Romania have signed a contract on daily importation of 200 kWh in case of major force situations and this contract will be enforced by next weekend, after Chisinau delivers a bank guarantee to the Romanian partners. <\/p>\n<p>Antosii noted that the electricity deficit of 440 kWh registered in networks on the right bank of the Dniester river after the Cuciurgan power plant stopped the energy supplies on November 9 is covered by imports from Ukraine.
