The total revenue from wire telephony services in Moldova accounted for 1,294,000,000 lei in nine months of this year, by 334.6 million lei more than sales in the mobile telephony sector, according to a study by the National Agency for Regulation in Telecommunications and Informatics (ANRTI). <\/p>\n

The average monthly revenue per subscriber to SA Moldtelecom, which holds 99.4 percent of the market, rose up to 167 lei in nine months, by 39 lei more than the average income registered in by the GSM operators Voxtel and Moldcell in the same period. <\/p>\n

The number of wire telephony subscribers rose by 31,500 persons up to 886,000 clients in January-September 2005, while the coverage rate of this type of telephony per 100 residents was 26.1 percent. ANRTI recalls that the wire telephony lost the lead to the mobile telephony this year for the first time. Thus, the number of subscribers to mobile telephony exceeded the number of wire telephony users by 117,100 subscribers up to 1,003,100 clients, while the penetration rate was 29.6 percent. <\/p>\n

Instead, the wire telephony sector maintains its lead regarding other indicators. Thus, investments in this sector accounted for 474 million lei in nine months of 2005, by 147.4 million lei more than in mobile telephony sector. <\/p>\n

According to the ANRTI study, a subscriber to the wire telephony registered 174 calls of about six hours and 10 minutes on average in the third trimester of this year. The subscriber consumed four hours and 16 minutes of them for local calls, 49 minutes for Internet via Dial-Up, 41.3 minutes for trunk calls, 14.3 minutes for calls with mobile telephony subscribers, and 9.4 minutes for international calls. <\/p>\n
