"The door of integration in the European Union (E.U.) remain open for Moldova, but talks on this issue is sensitive within E.U. for the time being because several European states have rejected the European Cons titution, as well as because of other problems faced by E.U.," Ambassador Cesare De Montis, Ambassador, chief of the European Commission Delegation in Chisinau, said on Tuesday, November 15. <\/p>\n

The high European official delivered this statement at an international conference called Neighbourhood with NATO and European Union, Political Implications regarding Security of Moldova. European Aspirations, which took place in Chisinau on November 14- 15. <\/p>\n

According to Cesare De Montis, Moldova "must get ready to become an E.U. member in future." "If all the provisions of the Moldova-E.U. Action Plan are implemented, Moldova will become de facto an E.U. member because it will comply with E.U. standards and , it will increase its chances of adhesion," Cesare De Montis added. <\/p>\n

Contacted by BASA, Igor Munteanu, director of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives Viitorul, said that "the administrative capacities of Chisinau leave much to be desired" regarding the implementation of the Moldova-E.U. Action Plan, and "there are shortcomings concerning the capacity of analysis and planning of changes" stipulated by this plan. <\/p>\n
