Western NIS Enterprise Fund (WNISEF) has become 100% shareholder in Natur Bravo S.A., the largest fruit and vegetables processor in the Republic of Moldova. The transaction was concluded based on a $10 million valuation of the company, which makes it the biggest investment made by WNISEF in the region over the 10 years of its existence. <\/p>\n

Natur Bravo is a leader in the fruit and vegetables processing industry and is one of Moldova’s major exporters, operating in several key segments such as apple juice concentrate, canned fruits and vegetables, juices and drinks, and frozen fruits and vegetables. The company’s production facilities are located in 3 regions, Cupcini, Floresti and Ungheni, in the north and center of Moldova, which are known as the most horticulture-friendly regions of the country. Today, Natur Bravo has a stable 30% share in the total output of Moldovan canneries. Its annual revenues for the last two years amounted to $11 and $12 million, respectively, resulting in healthy profitability. In 2003, the company produced a total of 30,000 tons of produce, and in 2004 – 18,000 tons. Natur Bravo is also one of the top 50 exporters in Moldova, selling abroad about 90% of its products. <\/p>\n

Having become a 100% owner of Natur Bravo, WNISEF plans to bring the company to a brand new stage in its development through introduction of international business, marketing, accounting and corporate management standards. The major goal of the Fund is to increase the value of the company by optimizing its production, improving and diversifying its sales and distribution and, most importantly, creating a sustainable and growing raw material base. “Natur Bravo is the first company in WNISEF’s investment portfolio that has such a huge export potential in the region”, said Alexandru Munteanu, WNISEF Investment Manager\/Country Director for Moldova. “Stepwise implementation of the Fund’s plans will allow not only to consolidate the company’s leadership in the industry, but will also substantially enhance its competitiveness on the domestic and international markets”, pointed out Mr. Munteanu. Today, fruit and vegetables exports amount to 5% of GDP and up to 15% of total Moldova’s exports inasmuch as Moldova is a traditional processor and exporter of fruits and vegetables, employing nearly 40% of the active population in the agricultural sector. <\/p>\n

“This investment emphasizes the attractiveness of Moldova’s processing industry for foreign investors.
