Filling stations in Moldova lowered the prices of gasoline and Diesel oil by 0.50 lei on Wednesday, October 19, though importers of oil products have recently announced new price rises. <\/p>\n

As for example, the gasoline A-95 costs now 10.90 lei a litre, compared with 11.40 lei previously, A-92 costs 10.60 lei a litre, compared with 11.40 lei until now. The Diesel oil price dropped from 11.10 lei down to 10.60 lei a litre. <\/p>\n

"Most of importers have renewed their stocks for lower importation prices, so that they could reduce the prices," Valentin Bodisteanu, chairman of the Importcompetrol union of importers of oil products has stated to BASA. <\/p>\n

Bodisteanu did not rule out a continued price cut, but he also warned in connection with a possible new price rise. "Everything depends on situation at exchanges," he added. <\/p>\n

This is the first reduction of fuels prices this year, after six rises in a row, so that prices increased by more than 50 percent in 2005. <\/p>\n

The reduction of gasoline and Diesel oil prices surprised many experts, since importers have recently announced new rises, while Deputy Economics and Trade Minister Igor Dodon said that the gasoline price could grow up to one euro per litre. <\/p>\n
