Interview with Azpetrol SRL manager-general Zakir Ibrahimov <\/p>\n

BASA: What has Azpetrol group done with almost ten months after signing the Giurgiulesti Investment Agreement with the Moldovan government? <\/p>\n

IBRAHIMOV: Azpetrol has done its best after signing of the investment agreement in order to enforce it, as well as to start the investment process. <\/p>\n

It has paid the first cache of the cost of unfinished construction of the oil terminal, ensuring the entire compensation of Moldova’s debt to the EBRD regarding the objective concerned. In addition, the group has signed a contract on leasing of the Inter national Free Port in Giurgiulesti and organised tenders to select suppliers and entrepreneurs to carry out construction works and acquire equipment. <\/p>\n

The construction of the terminal is being developed. <\/p>\n

Not the last, the process of selection of participants for most of the planned filling stations in Moldova has been completed. The company is acquiring the fields concerned and takes the actions needed to obtain authorisations for construction works. <\/p>\n

Overall, Azpetrol has invested 11 million dollars in the Giurgiulesti Investment Project until now. <\/p>\n

BASA: At what stage the construction of the international cargo and passenger port is? It was earlier said that the projection works will be completed by August 1, and the construction of the port should start later. <\/p>\n

IBRAHIMOV: Under the signed investment agreement, the construction of the cargo and passenger port will be completed within three years, since the date of enforcement of the investment agreement. <\/p>\n

BASA: When the first filling stations of Azpetrol will appear in Moldova? <\/p>\n

IBRAHIMOV: We plan to open the first 12 filling stations at the same time with the oil terminal, and we hope that this will happen next March. <\/p>\n

BASA: What obstacles did Azpetrol face in Moldova in its quality of foreign investor? <\/p>\n

IBRAHIMOV: It is a pleasure to say that we did not face any serious problems related to our activity until now. Of course, there are difficulties like in any big project and we must get through them. Many events are slowly developing, and we would not like this. <\/p>\n

BASA: Are you satisfied with business development conditions of the domestic market? <\/p>\n

IBRAHIMOV: We did not start the business itself, since we are preparing the necessary infrastructure now. However, we start understanding some particularities and conditions on market, and they are similar to conditions created in the entire post-Soviet area. There is a trend to adjust the national legislation and standards to European norms, and this inspires us with optimism regarding insurance of a favourable environment for business development.
