\"\"Moldovan authorities remain prudent referring to the outcome of the visit of the Russian phytosanitary experts who had negotiated the conditions of resuming the export of Moldovan vegetal products to the Russian Federation. <\/p>\n

Iurie Malanciuc, the head of the agri-chemistry, ecology and plant protection division in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), told Monday a press conference that the delegation of the Russian federal service for phytosanitary control had no major objections towards the Moldovan producers. They ascertained that only 16 of those over 700 phytosanitary certificates subjected to control, 233 of which were initially considered as suspect, contained errors. “They did not find falsified certificates as the Russian press reports said,” Malanciuc told. <\/p>\n

Though the MAIA official asserts that the Russian experts were delighted by the agricultural enterprises they visited, Malanciuc told that the decision of resuming the exports must be taken by Russia. It is expected to give an answer in the next two weeks. <\/p>\n

Mr. Malanciuc avoided estimating the losses suffered by the Moldovan exporters and producers, but he specified that the apple crop, up to 90 percent of which is traditionally exported to Russia, is still to be gathered and it might be exported to Russia. <\/p>\n

The Russian experts mentioned the performance of inspection before dispatch among the conditions for export resumption. Moldovan authorities agreed to place Russian inspectors at the Moldovan phytosanitary centers. According to Malanciuc, the Russian inspectors were misled by the Moldovan scientists who published different researches in the Russian specialty press asserting that some orchards in Moldova are affected by diseases, fact that was not proved. <\/p>\n

The Russian experts that arrived in Moldova at the expense of the Moldovan Government did not talk yet about the resumption of meat exports which were forbidden simultaneously with the exports of vegetal production. The reason invoked by Russia then was that Moldova exported more than it could produce. Thus, the Russian authorities considered that Moldova re-exported production, inclusively infected, from other countries, using certificates proving its Moldovan origin. <\/p>\n
