\"\"Sum of incomes accumulated in January-May currently in the state budget exceeded by 22% the forecast and by 35% the sum collected in the corresponding period last year. The increase in fiscal incomes is determined to the largest extent by the collections from VAT, first of all VAT on imported goods, shows a business and economic analysis presented by the independent specialists of the organization Expert-Grup. <\/p>\n

According to the analysis, “in the first quarter of the current year, the Gross National Product (GNP) registered the highest growth rate in the period of transition.” The increase made up 8.2%. 87% of this increase represented the rise in gross value added (GVA) and 13% – in net taxes on products and imports. On the other hand, specialists say that in 2005, the growth of the GVA (6.4%) was lower than in 2004 (7.1%), and the rise in the growth rate of the GNP was determined integrally by the 20% increase in the net taxes on products and imports. <\/p>\n

Currency evolutions in June-May were influenced more by foreign factors. After the Euro’s quotations reached in May the level of 16.06 lei, in June the Moldovan Leu appreciated against the Euro up to 15.33 lei, tendency that continued also in the first half of July. In the US the economy kept to the forecasted growth (3.5% in the first quarter currently), while in the EU the economic climate becomes a little more optimistic (growth of 0.5%), first of all due to the surprising growth of 1% of the GNP in Germany. <\/p>\n

After the insignificant 0.1% rise in consumption prices in May, a deflation of 0.8% was registered in Moldova in June 2005, for the first time after August 2002.
