Management of Gazprom has already announced that from 1 January 2006, this Russian company intends to deliver natural gas to Moldova at European prices, that is at 140-160$ per thousand cubic meters. Russian officials are saying that Moldova, which strives to become part of Europe, must get used to the European prices in the relations with its economic partners. Tiraspol considers that such relations and such duties must not be applied to Transdniestria, president of the supreme soviet of the unrecognized Transdniestrian republic Grigorii Maracutsa told Tuesday the journalists, summing up the visit of the delegation of the Transdniestrian parliament to Moscow. <\/p>\n

According to him, the Transdnistrian side suggests to Russia to conclude a direct agreement on gas deliveries between the respective companies of the Russian Federation and Transdniestria, in accordance with the 1997 Memorandum, which would allow the unrecognized republic to conduct an independent foreign economic activity. <\/p>\n

Maracutsa stated that Russia is willing to satisfy Tiraspol’s request: Russian President Vladimir Putin gave orders to a number of Russian institutions and structures to take measures that would help normalize the situation in Transdniestria. <\/p>\n

Speaker of the Transdniestrian parliament also said that Transdniestria asked Russia for support in developing the railways of the region, as well as for facilities for the Transdniestrian goods that are exported to Russia. According to Maracutsa, this is related to the restrictions imposed from 1 June by Russia on the Moldovan vegetal production. <\/p>\n
