The Mission of the International Monetary Fund has arrived to Moldova on June 21 for a two-week study visit. <\/p>\n

As the ŤInfoMarket.MDť new agency reports with reference to the IMF Resident Office to Moldova, the mission is led by Advisor of the IMF European Department Thomas Richardson. <\/p>\n

The mission will start its activities on Wednesday. In Chisinau the IMF experts will have meetings with President Vladimir Voronin, RM Parliament Chairman Marian Lupu, RM Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev, as well as with the Heads of the Ministries of Economy and Finance, the administration of the National Bank of Moldova, representatives of non-governmental organizations and business circles. In the course of their visit they intend to make acquaintance with the RM’s social and political situation, to assess the progress, reached by the RM in the implementation of the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy and the RM-EU Action Plan. <\/p>\n

The sides will discuss the outlook for the RM government�s cooperation with the IMF in the second half of 2005 and in 2006, will make a forecast of the RM economy development for this year. As Thomas Richardson declared earlier, the mission will not discuss the signing of the new Cooperation Program with the RM government. Alongside with it, he has underlined that the IMF is ready to collaborate with the RM government for the signing of the Interaction Program.
