\nThe National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) obliged the management of SA “RED Nord – Vest” to take cardinal measures to redress the economic-financial situation of the enterprise. <\/p>\n

According to the press service of ANRE, the decision was taken at the Thursday’s public meeting of Agency’s Administration Council. According to the ANRE analysis, although RED Nord-Vest managed to reduce the losses of energy from 35.4% to 25.4% in the last three ears, it continues to generate great financial losses coming from the delivery of electric power. Thus, in 2002 the losses made up 13.3 million lei, in 2003 – 9.9 million lei, and in 2004 – 13.7 million lei. At the beginning of 2005, the current and historic debts of RED Nord-Vest comprised 227 million lei, of which 197 million lei are debts towards the electric power suppliers. <\/p>\n

Agency’s leadership said it is worried about the situation created at RED Nord -Vest and declared this endangers the consistent provision of the consumers from the zone with electric power. In its decision, the Administration Council established that the management of RED Nord–Vest must take urgent measures to use efficiently the networks, reduce essentially the losses of energy and unproductive expenditure, collect integrally the debts and improve the financial management. The license holder was obliged to inform the Agency about the measures taken and their results by 15 July, and the second time by 1 September currently. <\/p>\n

The decision also reads that ANRE will submit to the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure, as well as to the Moldovan Government, the proposal to create in the North of Moldova a single power distribution enterprise by merging SA "RED Nord-Vest” with SA "RED Nord”. <\/p>\n

SA "RED Nord–Vest” was founded in 1997. It is one of the smallest power distribution enterprises in the country. It serves over 180 Th. consumers, the absolute majority being domestic consumers.
