According to some estimates of the National Statistics Bureau (NSB), in the first quarter of the current year total agricultural production made up in current prices 860mln lei, which is by 5.1% more compared with the corresponding period last year. According to statisticians, the agricultural production growth was determined by the 5.2% increase of the animal production. <\/p>\n

The same statistics show that the situation regarding the maintenance of the number of animals at agricultural enterprises has ameliorated. Thus, in the first three months of the current year, the death rate among horned cattle was of 1.1% (in January- March 2004 � 1.8%), among pigs � 3.9% (5.1%), among sheep and goats � 1.8% (2.4%). <\/p>\n
