Azpetrol group of companies paid to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) the sum of 5.5mln USD in order to purchase the pledged assets. In such a way, the entire debt of the Moldovan Government that appeared after construction of the Giurgiulesti Oil Terminal was stopped had been cleared. <\/p>\n

Consequently, the Moldovan government has no debts towards EBRD, the payment of the sum that remained from the credit of 15mln USD offered by the bank for Terminal’s construction being entrusted to Azpetrol, which is to settle the debt in the next six years, specified for REPORTER.MD sources from the Azeri company. <\/p>\n

According to a communiqué released by Azpetrol, Terminal’s re-projection will be finished by 1 May. There will be organized a tender for designation of the general entrepreneur that will execute the construction works, the beginning of which is planned for 20 May 2005. <\/p>\n

At the same time, the works of projecting the international freight and passenger port are due to be finished on 1 August 2005 and the construction of the port will start after that. <\/p>\n

The value of the contract signed by the Moldovan government with Azpetrol is of 250mln USD. Besides finishing the construction of the Terminal and port, the Azeri company pledged itself to build a refinery with a processing capacity of 2mln tones of oil annually.
