The World Bank Managing Director Shengman Zhang started on Monday, April 25 a two-day visit to Chisinau, and he is set to discuss with Moldovan officials different aspects of cooperation between the Bank and Moldova.<\/p>\n

Talks will focus on the World Bank’s assistance for the implementation of the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (EGPRSP) through the Country Assistance Strategy (CAS) for Moldova in 2005-2008, which the Bank approved in December 2004 and will start fulfilling this year.<\/p>\n

The financial assistance under the CAS for Moldova will account for 90 million to 137 million dollars, depending on the progress of reforms. The World Bank Board of Directors approved the EGPRSP on November 11, 2004, with executive directors being concerned over slow progresses related to implementation of structural reforms and increased intervention of government in activity of private sector.<\/p>\n

The World Bank high ranking official, who is considered the person No.2 in this institution, will have meetings at the presidential administration, executive office, parliament, and with leaders of civil society and of the business environment.<\/p>\n

Mr. Zhang is in charge of the Bank’s operations worldwide, including all its six geographical regions and six Sectoral\/Thematic Networks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
