The international reserves of Moldova maintained throughout March at the level of precedent month, 461 million dollars.<\/p>\n

The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) said on Tuesday that the forward deposits and placements held the highest share in the structure of reserves – 328.8 million dollars, including 227.24 million dollars in banks abroad, 101.5 million dollars in other central banks and in the International Monetary Fund. Reserves worth 132.66 million dollars are kept in securities.<\/p>\n

The supply of foreign currency on the inter-bank currency market registered an essential decline in the first three months of 2005, and therefore BNM purchased 9.15 million dollars.<\/p>\n

The official reserve assets of Moldova accounted for 461,254 million dollars in late March. <\/p>\n

According to the BNM, the international reserves amounted to 470.25 million dollars on December 31, 2004, and that was the highest level since the Moldovan leu had been introduced in November 1993, compared with 302.2 million dollars in early 2004 and 268.5 million dollars in early 2003.<\/p>\n

Earlier, BNM officials said that the central bank expected a growth by about 200 million dollars in the international reserves this year, up to minimum 600 million dollars.
