The European Commission (EC) will provide a grant of 9.2mln Euros to Moldova for budgetary support. The respective financing agreement was signed Thursday by the current Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev. Previously the document was initialed by the EC President Francesco De Angelis. <\/p>\n

The current prime minister mentioned that this project represents the first step in the direction of implementing the Plan of Actions Moldova – EU. The implementation of the respective program is part of the provisions of the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper. <\/p>\n

Vasile Tarlev specified that the money will be put to use in three major fields: for sustaining the agrarian sector, in the field of social protection and for modernizing public finances administratiOn. <\/p>\n

Vasile Tarlev stated that in agriculture the money will be used to carry out projects regarding the supply with drinking water, rehabilitation of irrigation systems, monitoring of infectious diseases among animals, enhancement of export of agricultural products etc. Another part of the money will be directed to support the most vulnerable sections of the population. <\/p>\n
