DAAC-Hermes, the importer and distributor of Romanian automobiles Dacia Logan in Moldova, hopes to sell 200 vehicles of this brand by the end of this year. During the first week after its presentation in Chisinau, the company has already sold 30 pieces. <\/p>\n

"Sales are above our expectations. We were predicting an increasing attention towards this model – but not so big. Thirty cars in just a couple of days is a record for us," Dacia sales director Eduard Vacaric told BASA. <\/p>\n

The sedan, which in Romania was the Car of the Year in 2004, is sold in Moldova for 5,500 to 7,500 euros. The most expensive one is provided with air conditioner, safety bags, electronic glass and mirror control, ABS brake systems. <\/p>\n

Designed by Renault specialists and built at the Pitesti plant, the 75-horse-power Dacia Logan develops 100 kilometres per hour in 13 seconds and can speed as fast as 162 kilometres per hour. It consumes 6.8 litres of fuel for 100 kilometres. <\/p>\n

In Romania, buyers have reportedly queued for the Logan, which produced furore and determined the Pitesti-based company to introduce a third shift in January to cope with the growing demand. The Dacia Logan – which the manufacturer described as "the best choice for developing countries" – was launched in September 2004. Since their official presentation in Bucharest as many as 13,000 Dacia Logans were sold in Romania and another 3,200 outside the country. Orders have been filed for 10,000 more. <\/p>\n
