According to the preliminary report of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), this index decreased from 893.6mln kWh in 2003, to 694.2mln kWh in 2004, making up on 1 January 2005 – 22.4%. <\/p>\n

According to the ANRE director Anatol Burlacov, although the mentioned losses are still large, in the last four years they were on the decrease due to the activities unfolded in this respect by ANRE and power distribution enterprises. <\/p>\n

The smallest losses – 16.31% of the total volume of electric power purchased at the division points were reported in 2004 by RED Nord (North Power Distribution Networks). In the same period, RE Chisinau (Chisinau Power Networks) succeeded in reducing these losses from 25.3% to 20.3%. RED Sud (South Power Distribution Networks) registered the greatest losses – 31.5%, RED Centru (Center Power Distribution Networks) – 28.1% and RED Nord-Vest (North-West Power Distribution Networks) – 25.6%. <\/p>\n

According to the ANRE’s estimations, the volume of electric power that is lost in the networks of those five power distribution enterprises can cover the annual necessities of the consumers that live in the zones served by RED Sud or RED Nord-Vest. <\/p>\n
