While visiting Moldova on Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry had the opportunity to make a journey through the world’s largest wine cellar at Cricova, which is about 120 km long (75 miles).<\/p>\n

John Kerry was impressed by the large collection of wines and its quality. Particularly, the American official appreciated the red wine, encouraging the Moldovan winemakers to promote their products in order to reach new markets. He promised that the U.S. Government will support Moldova in this regard.<\/p>\n

The head of the U.S. diplomacy received some presents: an oak box of four bottles that represent the range of Moldovan wines and spirits, including two bottles of red wine from the special collection, a bottle of sparkling wine and another one of spirit, which is over five decades old.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the American guest was assigned a shelf with more than 500 bottles of high quality red wine which will be kept at Cricova wine cellar and bottles will be shipped to Mr. Kerry upon request. He also received a bottle of 3 liters of 2007 wine.<\/p>\n

John Kerry said that he will do everything possible to return to Moldova. The official signed the guests’ book, calling the Cricova winery “a hidden treasure.”  <\/p>\n

Some other foreign officials have also their own shelf at Cricova wine cellar. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Russian President Vladimir Putin and EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso visited Cricova in the past and got similar gifts. <\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
