A woman, claiming to be a citizen of Moldova, was abducted in Syria. A video of 35 seconds uploaded on Youtube on August 9 shows how two women are being forced to have a short speech being surrounded by four gunmen.<\/p>\n

The Moldovan woman identified herself as Corina Coltsa, while the woman sitting next to her said her name is Svetlana Markomovic and she comes from the Republic of Belarus.<\/p>\n

Belarus newsroom of Radio Free Europe\/Radio Liberty contacted the brother of Corina, who identified himself as Leonid Batca. According to him, his sister left Moldova on July 25 to find work abroad. However, he did not know what country his sister travels to.<\/p>\n

Leonid Batca said that he received two phone calls from Corina. Apparently her first call was registered as coming from Lebanon, while the second call was from Syria.<\/p>\n

Both the Moldovan and the Belarus Ministers of Foreign Affairs are currently investigating the case to see whether the video proves to be genuine.<\/p>\n

“The necessary verification procedures of the information and identity confirmation of the kidnapped person are being undertaken at the moment,” Moldovan Foreign Ministry reported in a press release.<\/p>\n

According to them, the Moldovan Embassy based in Turkey will intervene in Syria to make sure the citizen is freed, if the information proves to be real.<\/p>\n
