The judiciary is the most corrupt realm in Moldova. Over 80% of Moldovans believe that in the judicial system most of the bribes are paid. According to a survey conducted by the Transparency International, the second most corrupted are the policemen (76% of respondents), followed by the parliament and political parties with 75% each. The medical and health services come next, over 70% of Moldovans saying that this sector is affected by corruption.<\/p>\n

Some 34% of respondents said corruption has increased a lot over the past two years. Only 2% said the phenomenon has decreased a lot in the same period.<\/p>\n

The judiciary is the most corrupt sector in other 19 countries besides Moldova. Over 30% of people in these countries had been asked to pay a bribe while seeking justice.<\/p>\n

Transparency International reported that worldwide more than one person in two believes corruption was worsened over the past two years.<\/p>\n

“Bribe paying levels remain very high worldwide, but people believe they have the power to stop corruption and the number of those willing to combat the abuse of power, secret dealings and bribery is significant,” Huguette Labelle, the Chair of Transparency International said in Berlin on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

In Romania, Moldova’s Western neighbor, political parties seem to be the most corrupt, according to 76% of people. This is followed by the parliament with 68% of respondents.<\/p>\n
