Moldova launched an intensive promotion campaign of the song to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 which is due to take place in May in Malmö, Sweden.<\/p>\n

More than 1,000 Moldovan citizens from 13 European cities will organize flash-mobs on April 28 to support their representative at Eurovision, Aliona Moon.<\/p>\n

According to Diaspora Relations Bureau, the campaign, named "A thousand lights to the Moon" has an innovative element: “supporting the Moldovan singer at Eurovision by promoting the national flag.”<\/p>\n

Therefore, Moldovan residents in Bulgaria, France, Greece, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Romania will project Moldova’s flag (tricolor) on the sky, launching lanterns and hot air balloons in the colors of the flag: blue, yellow and red.<\/p>\n

The event is due to take place a month later after a similar action organized in Moldova’s capital of Chisinau where over 500 fans launched lanterns.<\/p>\n

“The Diaspora Relations Bureau designed the International Campaign "A thousand lights to the Moon" taking into consideration that Eurovision is a major cultural event that offers huge opportunities to promote Moldova. Also the international campaign provides Diaspora the chance to contribute directly to a higher ranking of the Republic of Moldova’s representation,” the Diaspora Bureau of the Moldovan Government said.<\/p>\n

Moldova’s representative to Eurovision, Aliona Moon will sing during the first semi-final that is planned for May 14. She will enter the 12th in the competition. If she is successful, Aliona will participate at the grand final scheduled for May 18. <\/p>\n
