Dozens gathered in Central Square of Moldova’s capital of Chisinau to mark the Earth Hour for 60 minutes in a worldwide event that is meant to raise awareness on the need of taking action on climate change.<\/p>\n

The main buildings in Central Square turned their lights off for one hour from 8:30 PM until 9:30 PM (local time).<\/p>\n

The people participating in the event organized a flash-mob with lighted candles in front of the Government headquarters. It was followed by a live concert, using musical instruments and abstaining from electric power.<\/p>\n

Moldova joined the event among thousands of cities around the world which switched off their lights for one hour. Over 7,000 cities in 152 countries turned off their lights in 2012 in the same common action.<\/p>\n

”Everyone has a role to play. Governments need to provide the political will, businesses can contribute solutions, and civil society, especially young people, can mobilize global action. Together, let’s do our part and shed light on common sense answers for a cleaner, greener world,” UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon said.<\/p>\n
