\nAfter an eventful 2011, in which she saw her grandson William marry Kate Middleton, Queen Elizabeth has two major events to celebrate in 2012: on April 21 she turned 86, and the second is marking her 60th anniversary since her ascension to the throne.<\/p>\n

2. Russian elections won by Putin<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vladimir Putin wins Russian presidential election in March 2012. Putin and his staff were blames for fraud. Opposition leaders made emotional calls for Putin’s resignation and a fresh poll – just a day after he had won a landslide. The campaign has been unfair, cowardly and treacherous. People gathered in the center of the city to protest to the fraud made by the politician. Russians chanted ‘Shame!’ and ‘Russia without Putin!’, as opposition leaders – most of the barred from contesting the presidential election – sought to spark an Arab Spring in an icy Moscow with highly-charged speeches in front of 20,000 people. Putin was named a dictator. At his speech in front of the people, Vladimir Putin shared some tears. It was an emotional moment for everyone.
\n‘Did we see these tears when blocks were blown up in Moscow? Did we see them when the Kursk submarine went to the bottom? Did we see them after explosions in the Moscow metro? These were the tears of fear,’ said an anti-Putin campaigner.<\/p>\n

3.UEFA Euro 2012 <\/strong><\/p>\n

The 14th UEFA European Football Championships took place in Poland and Ukraine between 8 June and 1 July 2012. Euro 2012 set the record for both the highest aggregate attendance (1,440,896) and the highest average attendance per game (46,481) under the 16-team format (since 1996). A total of 31 matches were played during Euro 2012, with Ukraine hosting 16 of them and Poland 15.
\nThe final UEFA Euro 2012 match took place on 1 July 2012 at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine, to determine the winner of UEFA Euro 2012. For the title was fighting Italy and Spain, after a tense game, and 4 goals, made by David Silva, Jordi Alba, Fernando Torres and Juan Mata, Spain won the UEFA Euro 2012 trophy.
\nThe next UEFA Euro will take place in 2016 in France.<\/p>\n

4.London Olympics <\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2012 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXX Olympiad are best known as London 2012.
\nThe preparations for this events, was a real challenge for UK, and they did it very well. London became the first city to have hosted the Olympics three times in the modern era (the others were 1908 and 1948).
\nConstruction for the Games involved considerable redevelopment, with an emphasis on sustainability. The main focus was a new 200-hectare (490-acre) Olympic Park, constructed on a former industrial site at Stratford, East London. The Games also made use of venues that already existed before the bid. The original budget for the Games was £2.4 billion, but this was increased almost fourfold to about £9.3 billion ($14.46 billion) in 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

5. U.S. election<\/strong><\/p>\n

The United States presidential election of 2012 was the 57th quadrennial presidential election. It was held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. For the president chair were competing the Democratic nominee President Barack Obama, and his Republican opponent Mitt Romney.
\nObama won the Electoral College by 332 votes to Mitt Romney’s 206—almost as convincing a victory as in 2008. But he won the popular vote by a much diminished 2.4 percentage points, while Republicans easily retained control of the House of Representatives
\nObama says the voters have helped America move forward because "you reaffirmed the spirit that has triumphed over war and oppression".
\n“The spirit that has lifted this country from the depths of despair to the great heights of hope. The belief that while each of us will pursue our own individual dreams, we are an American family and we rise or fall together as one nation and as one people,” said Barack Obama.<\/p>\n

Whitney Houston the Guinness World Records cited her as the most awarded female act of all time. Houston was one of the world’s best-selling music artists, having sold over 170 million albums, singles and videos worldwide. Houston’s first acting role was as the star of the feature film The Bodyguard in 1992, and she is best known for her single “I will always love you”. On February 11, Houston was found unconscious in Suite 434 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported the cause of Houston’s death was drowning and the "effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use"
\nEtta James best known for her single ‘At last’ was a music icon during her long music career. Her style spanned a variety of music genres including blues, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, soul, gospel and jazz. Etta died just five days before her 74th birthday, she was fighting with leukemia.<\/p>\n\n

7. EU wins Nobel Prize for peace<\/strong><\/p>\n

European Union was awarded with Nobel Prize for peace. The union and its forerunners have for over six decades contributed to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe.
\nThe president of the European commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, tweeted: "It is a great honour for the whole of the #EU, all 500 million citizens, to be awarded the 2012 #Nobel Peace prize." He later called it a "justified recognition" of a unique project that works for the benefit of its citizens and the world.
\nOslo committee focuses on union’s historical role in ending conflict, but Eurosceptics and many Greeks greet surprise award with scorn and incredulity.<\/p>\n

Twitter breaks the records for volume of tweets—first during the London Olympics and then during the presidential election, which saw a peak of 327,452 tweets per minute. The service also passed 500 million total users and 200 million active users in 2012. Even the Pope signed up for a Twitter account in 2012.<\/p>\n


\n10. The end of the world <\/strong><\/p>\n

Many people were awaiting this event as a joke, but there was a big majority they believed this was it, the end of the world. In the Mayan culture, the 21 December 2012 was the end of the world, as the time of calendar was finishing at his date. On the other side the significance of December 21, 2012 on the Mayan calendar is that it marks the end of one age and the beginning of another. This transition may be accompanied by cataclysmic events or it may not. The important thing is that it marks a point of spiritual evolutionary growth for the planet and humanity.
\nDespite the fact that a lot of people was preparing for the event, through different methods, by gathering some provisions for a time, but it never happened.<\/p>\n
