Heavy snowfalls have hit Moldova and Romania in the last 24 hours causing travel disruptions and delays at some checkpoints and airports.<\/p>\n

Moldovan Customs Service informs that the customs points in northern Moldova face serious difficulties, since the snow has not been entirely removed yet. The authorities recommend avoiding travelling via Costesti-Stanca, Briceni – Rossosani, Criva – Mamaliga, Medveja – Zelionaia and Grimancauti – Vaskivti checkpoints. An alternative solution is using the near customs.<\/p>\n

Ministry of Transportation said that plows were still working the entire day to make sure all the roads are clear. Up until now, four roads that connect villages in northern Moldova and two roads in the western part of the country are still difficult to access.<\/p>\n

Some flights from Chisinau International Airport faced delays today. However, no flights have been cancelled.<\/p>\n

At Iasi International Airport in Romania which is 150 km north-west from Chisinau have been registered delays and cancellations on most of the flights due to heavy snow. Only one flight from Bucharest landed today, whereas other two were cancelled.
