OSCE Mission to Moldova has launched a 16-Day Campaign against Gender-Based Violence under the slogan “Real men don’t beat women.” The campaign is designed to raise the awareness on the domestic violence the women experience.
\nThe event was started last week with an international tournament with female and male teams.<\/p>\n

“Sports are an excellent tool to promote zero tolerance towards violence against women,” Jennifer Brush, the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova said. “It is inspiring to see more and more men and boys in Moldova promoting positive male roles and gender equality.”<\/p>\n

The global 16-Day Campaign backs in 1991. Its main goal is to avert and fight against any form of gender-based violence by raising public awareness.<\/p>\n

According to OSCE, the campaign will continue with other activities including a video spot featuring Moldovan boxing, wrestling, weight lifting and swimming champions from both sides of the Nistru River, showing the issue of gender violence. The video will be broadcast on national public TV.<\/p>\n

The UN agencies in Moldova, NGOs and sports federations are among the supporters of the campaign. OSCE will also organize trainings and workshops and participate in TV talk shows.<\/p>\n
