The fifth edition of Diaspora Congress takes place in Chisinau. Diaspora representatives from nearly 30 countries gathered to discuss about the cooperation with Moldovan authorities.<\/p>\n

The news of this edition is that Chisinau authorities will establish a special agency to cooperate with Diaspora. “Such an institution was necessary because it will be in direct contact with the Government and Diaspora. Finally, Moldovan Diaspora will have not only moral support, but also financial one”, said Alexander Marchinski, the President of “Bastina” Association from Padova, Italy. He specified that Diaspora members or people who lived abroad should work within the agency, because they know better the problems Moldovans living abroad are facing.<\/p>\n

Another participant at Congress, Victor Croitoru from Sweden thinks that the agency should deal not only with Diaspora issues, but primarily to make the most of Moldovan’s potential. “I would like to hear more about reports and concrete results and less promises and scenarios”, he added referring to this year’s Congress.<\/p>\n

“I had greater expectations, because this year Diaspora was more actively involved in organizing the Congress. For example, this year 50% of the time for speeches was reserved for Diaspora representatives. In 2010, the percentage was only 10-15%”, said Dorin Dushchyak from Paris.<\/p>\n

During the Congress there were also discussed the ways the Government could motivate young people studying abroad to return, voting by mail, as well as the active participation of Moldovans in the economic life of Moldova.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
