Most HIV-positive people are discriminated, show the results of a research performed by the League of HIV-positive people. Most of the times, people with HIV face situations when people refuse to communicate with them or they feel isolated.<\/p>\n

Maria, a young lady of 25 years old, learned she is HIV-positive two years ago. She says the family doctor and the police officer know about her diagnosis and often harass her in what relates the medical consultation. She says it is difficult to hide this fact because the police officer reminds every time about the medical consultation.<\/p>\n

“It is very difficult to hide your status of HIV-positive especially in the rural area. I’m pretty sure the family doctor knows about her status, but avoids recognizing it. It seems suspicious that the doctor tells me to infectious disease specialist. Until she gets to my house, the whole village knows”, the young lady confesses, quoted by the portal discriminare.md<\/p>\n

According to the Ministry of Health data, there are 7032 HIV-positive people registered in the Republic of Moldova as of 1st<\/sup> January 2012.
