Moldovan highly qualified workers are eligible to apply for a Blue Card in any EU member state except UK, Ireland and Denmark. Although the EU Council directive was enacted in May 2009, the Moldovan nationals willing to work legally in the European Union do not know about this opportunity. The idea of these cards is designed to work against the shortage of skilled workers in the European Union member states.<\/p>\n

Germany, for example, started to issue Blue Cards to non-EU citizens from the 1st of July 2012. The main advantage is that the bearers of such a card get the same wage as EU citizens for the same job.<\/p>\n

To get a Blue Card, one needs a contract with a gross monthly earning of at least 3733 Euro. At the same time, it is important to have the contract in the shortage occupation. Germany’s www.bluecard-eu.de informs that the country currently needs mathematicians, engineers, doctors, scientists and IT skilled workers.<\/p>\n

When first applying for an EU Blue Card, it is valid for 4 years. Bearers of the Blue Card have the right, after having stayed in Germany for at least 18 months, to move into another EU country.
\nThe language skills are another important asset.<\/p>\n

“Foreigners, who own the EU blue card, can apply for permanent residence after 33 months. If they have German language knowledge on level B1 then they can apply already after 21 months,” the official website for Blue Cards in Germany informs. <\/p>\n

According to the source, university graduates can receive a visa for half a year if they can make sure that they earn enough for living.<\/p>\n

"During this time they can try to find a permanent job in Germany. Foreign graduates of a German university have even more advantages in getting a job after finishing university. The can work 120 or 240 part time days while studying."<\/p>\n

Moldovan Embassy in Berlin told MOLDOVA.ORG that it is still unknown the number of Moldovans who applied for a Blue Card in Germany. The German Ambassador to Moldova said in May this year that no Moldovan citizen was registered with the German authorities as an owner of a Blue Card.
